How can patients and clinicians benefit from AI?
AI technology is advancing rapidly, but how can we make sure it benefits patients and clinicians in the real world? At the Erasmus MC Datahub we are committed to ‘moving AI from bytes to bedside’; developing and deploying AI solutions that are safe, responsible and scalable.
In this publication, we explain that to foster trust and adoption of AI at the bedside, we need to look beyond traditional statistical measures of AI performance and evaluate the actual impact and utility of AI interventions in clinical settings.
We also give some practical recommendations and strategies for conducting and reporting such outcomes in future clinical trials and practice.
